NOTAM's & Weather

The most common question asked to the ATC desk - "Is it flyable?"

Answers may vary, but an easy check is:

If TAF one line long, then probably flyable,

If TAF two lines long, read carefully, if a VFR pilot, then possibly flyable, if IMC rated, then probably flyable but you might spend some time in the clag,

If TAF three lines long, then probably not!

We do not have the facilities to publish official updated Popham airfield weather observations to this site.

For the nearest weather station to us, look for the Lasham Weather Station or the weather for Southampton (EGHI) or Farnborough (EGLF).
  • Aviation weather information (Met Office Forms 214 & 215) will be posted each morning on the CAA safety board in the pilot's Briefing Room courtesy of Avbrief or The Met Office
  • The PC in the briefing room is available free of charge on broadband for anyone wishing to obtain updated weather information or NOTAM's from the Internet - please ask ATC if you need access.  N.B. Any unauthorised software added will be removed!
  • There is also a white board beside the ATC desk which carries any important daily or local or procedure information you should be aware of.

This is the French AIS web site where there is information regarding the French Temporary Prohibited Areas which seem to be growing in number.

If you are planning a trip to France this year it would well be worth your while ensuring you don't fly over prohibited sites. They aren't marked as such on the French charts (just a very small coloured rectangle is used).

(N.B. Not all sites are guaranteed for Aviation use)
