The most common question asked to the AGCS desk - "Is it flyable?"

Any information published here is purely advisory and we cannot make decisions for you!

There is a weather station based on the Popham AGCS desk.  This is excellent, giving precipitation, sun, winds, gusts, barometer trends and also a calculated estimate of the cloud base.

Please click this link to view the Popham Advisory Weather gauges.

The data is updated every five minutes to the web.  Your browser window will NOT automatically update so be sure to refresh the page (F5) to get the latest information.

Internet weather stations closest to us are Winchester and the Lasham Weather Station.  A good web site for advance trends is XCweather and this also covers France Spain and Germany. Use the "back" function of your browser to return to this page.
  • Aviation weather information (Met Office Forms 214 & 215 & Local TAF's) will be posted each morning on the AGCS desk courtesy of The Met Office
  • The PC in the briefing room is available free of charge on broadband for anyone wishing to obtain updated weather information or NOTAM's from the Internet - please ask ATC if you need access.  N.B. Any unauthorised software added will be removed!
  • There is also a white board beside the AGCS desk which carries any important daily or local or procedure information you should be aware of.

This is the French AIS web site where there is information regarding the French Temporary Prohibited Areas which seem to be growing in number.

If you are planning a trip to France this year it would well be worth your while ensuring you don't fly over prohibited sites. They aren't marked as such on the French charts (just a very small coloured rectangle is used).

(N.B. Not all sites are guaranteed for Aviation use)
